Brand Overview

OPPO is one of the world's largest smartphone technology companies. Its major product lines include smartphones, smart devices, audio devices, power banks, and other electronic products that are used by over 200 million people around the globe.

Launched in 2004. Since then, the company has expanded to 50 countries. More than 40,000 employees working on technological innovation to create a smarter and better life for people across the world.

Team Brucira is currently the digital marketing strategy partner of the OPPO India division where we help the brand build a better connection with its audience by creating Indianized graphic illustrations.

The deliverables include splash designs, banner design icons for OPPO mobile browsers, app store, and theme store.

The Problems:

Oppo has created a phenomenal presence for itself in the mobile phone industry. Despite this, it was highly infamous in the Indian market as a Chinese brand. Something was missing in their visual communication. Indian audiences could not relate to Chinese illustrated visuals that appeared in various digital touchpoints. To improve this connection with their Indian users, Oppo approached us to relook at their communication strategy.

This project aimed to rebuild Oppo’s image in the minds of Indian users and expand its target audience. Increasing user engagement was challenging as the visual style had to be redefined.

The Solution:

To cater to the tastes of the Indian population, we decided to go with graphic Indian styles. Instead of making generic illustrations, we uniquely designed visuals taking into consideration Indian skin tones, hair color, culturally appropriate elements, colors, monuments, etc that people could relate with.

Keeping all of these insights in mind, we created rich illustrations for festivals like Diwali, Eid, and Holi till social and important days and seasons. Each illustration has an intricate story sketched in it. As a result, user engagement increased and we witnessed a great rise in click rates.

The Impact

Our illustrations of Indian Culture received a lot of attention and love from Oppo’s users and it increased their popularity. They created a buzz and cumulatively, it resulted in amazing positive traction for Oppo India.

This achievement enabled Brucira to increase its scope of work from handling just festive creatives to taking care of the entire digital marketing strategy of OPPO in India. Within OPPO we currently work with creatives for brands like Phonepe, Byju’s, Vedantu, Zomato, Paytm, Netflix, Dominos, Coinswitch Kuber, etc

OPPO's main goal was to connect with their Indian audience. Brucira's Illustrations brought out the essence through its well crafted concepts and creatives. OPPO were able to measure and observe a significant rise in engagement. Thanks to team Brucira for continuous cooperation and moving fast. Highly recommended.
